HUD Mining Supplies (Pty) Ltd was founded by David Huddy and started operating in 2005. David is the son of Mike Huddy, the CEO of the Huddy Group up to its sale in 2004, the company which was founded by Mike’s father Jack Huddy, in 1944. This means we have a 75 plus year heritage as a manufacturer in the global diamond drilling industry.
In January 2008, HUD Engineering (Pty) Ltd was established and a new large manufacturing plant was equipped and started up. HUD Engineering manufacturers a wide range of products for HUD Mining, and has continuously grown in size and capacity since inception.
HUD commenced manufacturing of its own impregnated and surface set diamond bits and shells in September, 2008. Today HUD’s bit manufacturing is located inside a newly custom built plant at its Isando facility.
In December 2008, HUD bought the entire Kempe® and MetreEater® product lines from Boart Longyear. This included all stocked parts at the time as well as all intellectual property rights and trademarks. Today nearly all parts are manufactured by HUD to original specifications and materials at Isando. Most recently in Dec 2012 we moved to a new factory building which pulled the workshops, bit plant and offices into one single large modern facility, in Isando, Johannesburg.

We do this by tight and close management of all input costs, and continually listening to our customers and trying to meet every requirement is paramount across all our people. Urgency and flexibility are commonly applied in our business.
We are not afraid to build and hold stock for our customers as required. Great service and fast delivery means holding the correct stock.
